Introducing The 2021 Tech Fellowship
We are excited to introduce a new fellowship opportunity for our Clubhouse professional community.
The TCN Tech Fellows program provides Clubhouse Staff with the learning experience to merge interdisciplinary skills training, technology, and practical experience. At the intersection of social justice, creative learning, and technology, our Tech Fellows program will give Coordinators the opportunity to develop learning experiences within their Clubhouse, while also serving as mentors to coordinators around the global Network.
Tech Fellows will gain exposure to the varied uses of technology, integration, and community building to deepen understanding of the systematic barriers that prevent marginalized communities from accessing technologies and how The Clubhouse Network can help bridge that gap. In addition, Fellows will have the opportunity to work alongside a TCN Mentor, on their own initiative or passion project, that will be shared back with the Network.
Who is eligible to apply for the Fellowship?
All current Clubhouse or BBTTC Staff are eligible to apply. This includes Coordinators, Assistant Coordinators, Mentor Coordinators, and C2C Pathways Facilitators. All applicants must have attended Immersion Week, either in person or virtually.
Who is an ideal candidate for the Fellowship?
We’re looking for candidates who have a drive for innovation, education, and equity. In addition to a deep interest in the Clubhouse Learning Model and wants to explore deeper implementation strategies.
What do Fellows have to gain from this experience?
Each Fellow will receive a $4,000 USD stipend to cover expenses, technology, and materials during the cycle. In addition to ongoing Professional Development from The Clubhouse Network Staff and Network Partners such as the MIT Media Lab, Maker Ed., and more. This includes training, mentorships, and other networking opportunities to connect fellows with executives, speakers, and mentors.
How long does the program run for?
Tech Fellows will run from January 2021 - September 2021, followed by another round starting in 2022
What are the commitments from the Fellows?
Applicants must be able to commit to the full 9-month cycle. If for any reason, a candidate needs to terminate their fellowship early, the situation will be reviewed on a case by case basis and may result in a decreased or partial stipend.
In addition to ongoing discussion boards and resource sharing, Fellows will be asked to engage in the following:
- Attend monthly 1 hour calls, in addition to 2 hrs of independent work each week.
- Develop 1-2 virtual workshops for The Clubhouse Network community
- Participate in a hosted community, Clubhouse Connect, where fellows journal their experience and complete a series of team-building exercises.
- Develop and curate a series of “challenges” for Clubhouse members across the Network that will be shared on Clubhouse Connect and the Clubhouse Village
- Develop the start of a tangible library of resources relating to innovation in technology and The Clubhouse Learning Model.
